DKJ Announces Winners of #RelaksasiBeragama2022 Vertical Film Competition

The Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ) announced the winners of the #RelaksasiBeragama2022 Vertical Film Competition. It is the first vertical film competition in Indonesia in response to the issue of diversity in the religious life and is a part of the Road to Madani International Film Festival 2022.

"In meeting to determine the winners, the juries consisting of Garin Nugroho (director), Inaya Wahid (actor and activist), and Salman Faridi (Bentang Pustaka CEO) have chosen the first and second winners. The jury is decided to add to a category of films chosen by the jury, while the favorite winner is from netizen voting results on @bentangpustaka Instagram account," said DKJ Public Relations Fransiskus Sena Pamudya Kirana in a written statement, Wednesday (4/27).

Those vertical short films, he explained, were a free adaptation of the short story collection from Memburu Muhammad (2020) and Bukan Perawan Maria (2021) which were written by Feby Indirani and published by Bentang Pustaka.

Garin Nugroho said that the films selected as winners had a strength in the simplicity of the way of speech and issues that were able to build empathy, the works with good cinematographic elements and supported by acting and visualizations that are popularly processed.

For information, this event offered a total prize of Rp 24 million which was a grant from the Indonesian IATSS Forum Alumni Association (IIFA) which was actively training young people in various fields, such as entrepreneurship and education. IIFA is an Indonesian alumni organization whose members have received leadership training scholarships for the IATSS Forum in Japan which has been going on since 1985.

The winners of the #RelaksasiBeragama2022 Vertical Film Competition are:

1. First Winner: Sepotong Cokelat Untukmu, by Kincir Angin Lab with a prize of Rp 10 million

2. Second Winner: Awang, by Kaki Langit Production with a prize of Rp 7 million

3. Favorite Winner: Memburu Muhammad, by Akar Film with a prize of Rp 5 million

4. Winner of the jury's selection: Pertanyaan Malaikat by Ilham Imanuddin with a prize of Rp 2 million
